Bougainvillea Bonsai Tree Care Guide

Bougainvillea is a traditionally a climbing plant. However when trained as a bonsai tree, these can become a centre masterpiece in anyones home, with it's gorgeous flowers in full bloom and its spectacular array of flower colours. Red, white, pink, purple, orange, peach, yellow, white/pink fusion and hundreds more.

We often see this plant sold in local nurseries all around Australia.

Position - Full sun, warm position. Minimum temperature 7°C (45°F). 

Watering - Daily throughout summer, sparingly in winter. 

Feeding - Every two weeks throughout summer. 

Repotting - Every two to three years in spring. Use free-draining soil mix. 

Pruning - Trim back straggling shoots continually to create a more compact plant. 

Styles - Suitable for all sizes except formal upright, broom and literati, and for medium to extra large sizes.
